250 million pageviews!
As the Transparent California team reflects on 2019, we’ve received a big piece of news — the site will eclipse 250,000,000 all-time pageviews by the end of the year! That’s not a typo (I doubled checked), a quarter of a billion views.
Why do people come to Transparent California first? We know from your emails that people visit the site for a variety of reasons, but one is that we have more records than anyone else—and they’re more thorough.
This point was made clear last week when the State Controller’s Office announced a release of 400,000 new K-12 records for 2018. Since we actively request these records, with names, Transparent California has already published twice as many and is on track to have over 1 million records posted when we’re through. In addition, we’re launching an ambitious charter-school initiative to obtain an entirely new set of records for next year.
The sheer number of visits reflects the public’s desire to know what government is doing. We’re honored to be the go-to resource for reliable and accessible public pay and pension data.
