A Major Milestone for Transparent California!

When we started Transparent California back in 2014, we had a simple mission: to “support the Golden State with the most comprehensive database of public pay information available.” That humble calling has exploded into one of most heavily trafficked websites in the world placing us in the top .01% of all global internet traffic.

Recently, we had the honor of achieving a major milestone, one made possible thanks to the support of users like you. On February 27th, Transparent California achieved its 400 millionth pageview, marking a significant government transparency achievement in the Golden State.

Undoubtedly, 400 million is a huge number, and it represents several other important numbers for Transparent California:

Among those 400 million pages viewed, are the 26,524,796 California employees distinct salary records on our site.

Those 400 million pages include $1.3 trillion in total pay information stretching all the way back to 2011.

Those 400 million pageviews represent thousands of concerned citizens, activists and lawmakers who have used the data on our site in their fight to keep California free and reduce rampant public spending.

In all, this milestone is a moment of major celebration for Transparent California as we look back at the impact we have had on the Golden State. It’s an impact that was made possible by you, the supporters of Transparent California who have donated, browsed our records and pointed others in our direction.

This victory belongs to you for helping make our mission a success. So thank you for all the support you have given us over the years.

We are proud to have become California’s premier database of public pay information, but we have no intention of stopping there. We will continue to spend every day fighting to expand access to public records so that California can become the most transparent state in the union.

In the months to come, we plan to continue expanding our initiatives as we work to collect more records than ever before, provide more guides on our resources page and bring you even more up-to-date stories on the latest news in open records.

We couldn’t be more excited about the months and years to come as we work with you to bring California the best public records resources possible. It has been a pleasure to partner with you in this mission and we hope that you will continue to support us as we work towards another 400 million pageviews!

P.S.: 400 Million pageviews is a major accomplishment and if you’re curious about what people are coming to see, check out the resources page of our blog!
